A New Dinner In The Sky Platform Is Being Designed It Consists Of A Base 2764975

A new “dinner in the sky” platform is being designed. It consists of a base platform which is 10m x 3m and must hold a bending load of up to 2000kg, a bridge which supports the platform, and a top wire used to lift the structure using a crane. To give a sense of height to the users, the platform must be transparent.

  1. Specify the material to be used for the platform, and calculate the requiredthickness.
  2. Specify the material to be used for the top wire, and calculate the diameter.
  3. Specify the material to be used for the bridge, and calculate the dimensions if the deflection should not exceed 50mm when lifting the platform. The bridge is also 10m x 3m.

Choose appropriate safety factors for each.

Brief The aim of this activity is to solve simple engineering and material selection problems, and to developwriting and communication skills. A new “dinner in the sky” platform is being designed.
